The challenge
The existing website for City Church District was built using a basic template and lacked both functionality and a clear user flow. It did not reflect the identity or values of the church and failed to meet the needs of its primary users both new visitors and active church members.
Key actions such as finding event details, exploring church branches, or giving were either hard to find or not supported at all. As a result, the site saw low engagement, and many church members relied on external tools (such as WhatsApp groups, Zoom links, and social media) to access important updates and information.
The challenge was to create a homepage that not only presents City Church District in a welcoming and mission-driven way but also becomes a central, reliable platform for communication, connection, and participation.
The design process
The process began with stakeholder interviews to understand both the audience and the church’s mission. Wireframes were created to map a clear layout starting with a strong hero section, the different church city branches and clear calls to action for giving, online bible study, introduction to the church leadership and more. An inviting, accessible visual identity was developed, inspired by the mother church (Church of pentecost). The design was prototyped in Figma and refined through stakeholder feedback.

The outcome
The final homepage design provides an inviting, organized, and welcoming entry point into the church community. It includes:
A strong hero section.
An always visible call to action to give, combined with a prominent and thoughtfully worded ‘Giving’ section.
An overview of the church branch cities.
Sections about online bible study and introduction to leadership.
A Section about church events.
A form to sign up for the news letter.
Accesible links to social platforms, like Spotify, Facebook and X.
Prototype
Here is a prototype preview of what the homepage will look like. The website now is still under construction, but you can sneak a peak here.
